Price index

This is the average price of a certain brand, segment or product in relation to the overall average price in a chosen market.

Your chosen market is defined by the selected product group, country and time period plus any additional filters you apply. Remember, a market is limited to the channels that GfK is tracking for a product group in a country.

The Price index is shown in index points. For example:

In Country X, Brand A's average price for Washing Machines is 650 Euros.

In Country X, the average price for Washing Machines across all brands is 772 Euros

Brand A’s Price Index for Washing Machines in Country X is calculated as 650/772*100 = 64

The different levels mean the following:

< 100 means the average price of the brand, segment or product is lower than the overall market average.

> 100 means the average price of the brand, segment or product is higher than the overall market average.

100 means that the average of the brand, segment or product is exactly the same as the market average.
