Price Index: Supply Chain

This is the average price distribution of a certain brand, segment or product in relation to the overall average price in a chosen distribution market.

Your chosen distribution market is defined by the selected product group, country and time period plus any additional filters you apply. Remember, a distribution market is limited to the distributors that are partnering with GfK and are providing data for a product group in a country.

The Price index is shown in index points. For example:

In Country X, Brand A's average distribution price for Media Tablets is 650 Euros.

In Country X, the average distribution price for Media Tablets across all brands is 772 Euros

Brand A’s Price Index for Media Tablets in Country X is calculated as 650/772*100 = 64

The different levels mean the following:

< 100 means the average price of the brand, segment or product is lower than the overall market average.

> 100 means the average price of the brand, segment or product is higher than the overall market average.

100 means that the average of the brand, segment or product is exactly the same as the market average.
